On Wednesday 7th August your Aylesbury East team were alerted to changes which will prohibit vehicles travelling on Douglas Road turning right into Stocklake towards the town centre. This is following a number of minor collisions involving turning vehicles and is done using an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order (ETRO) on a trial basis for a period not exceeding 18 months. During this period data to be gathered from the site as well as feedback from road users for the first six months before deciding whether the right turn ban should be made permanent.
The ETRO will become operational on Monday 19th August, when physical measures, which will comprise of the introduction of concrete blocks across the existing right run lane and adaption of lines and signage on the road, will be introduced. The work is scheduled to last for four weeks.
Councillor Mark Winn says, “This is a reaction to a poorly designed junction, there really needs to be a filter lane and a box junction to make turning right onto Stocklake a lot clearer to all road users.”
County Councillor Julie Ward says, “I think this proposal is an absolutely terrible idea, I know there have been a few incidents at the junction but I think that stopping traffic from turning right onto Stocklake is using a sledgehammer to crack a nut! We wanted to make sure that you as residents who will be directly impacted by this decision know how you can give your feedback on these proposals. It is important that we get as many people as possible to feedback to TfB, you will have my full support in making sure TfB, Mark Shaw (Cabinet Member for Transport) and Martin Tett (Bucks County Council Leader) are fully aware of your views too!”
