Launched on at the end of September by the Government, the Green Homes Grant scheme sees homeowners in England, including landlords, get up to £5,000 to pay part of the cost of energy saving measures like insulation. Low income households (including those on certain benefits) can get 100% of the costs of work covered up to £10,000.
Up to 600,000 households could save up to £600 a year on energy bills by applying today. Installing energy efficient home improvements also cuts emissions, which is better for the environment.
Grants through the scheme can be used for energy-efficiency upgrades such as:
- Cavity wall insulation
- Loft insulation
- Solid wall insulation
- Under-floor insulation
- Biomass boiler
- Ground source heat pump
- Hybrid heat pump
- Solar thermal
