Following months of hard work behind the scenes from Councillors Julie Ward and Mark Winn, Aylesbury Conservatives are delighted that Bedgrove will see the restoration of some bus services which were controversially axed by operators towards the end of last year.
Mark & Julie have been informed that from 29th July service will be restored to residents of Welbeck Avenue between 9.30am and 4pm. At the same time Red Rose Buses have announced they will be starting a new service called Service 7 running every 30 minutes on Mondays to Saturdays serving Aylesbury Town Centre, Narbeth Drive, Welbeck Avenue, Cam Mead and Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
Mark and Julie are thrilled with the outcome. Julie said “Mark and I have listened to residents’ concerns and represented them vigorously to service operators and through every channel available to us. Bucks County Council have assisted greatly with the process. In this instance tenacity and co-operation from all involved has paid off. I am delighted we could achieve this result for residents, giving them back such a vital lifeline”.
Mark added “We have met and spoken with many worried residents, Julie and I feared that as a result of the initial changes our most vulnerable residents and those with restricted mobility could have found themselves socially isolated. We were determined to get a positive result for them and are pleased that the operators have listened to the concerns we raised and delighted to have got not one, but two bus services for Bedgrove residents including a route to and from our hospital for Oakfield residents.”
