Buckinghamshire & Slough Borough Councils have a simple request of their residents to help stop fly-tipping, don't pay cash in hand. Costing around £600,000 a year to clear up, this money could be used on front line services.
If the Council's enforcement teams find that your rubbish has been fly-tipped you must show that you checked the person that took your rubbish away was fully authorised and it was taken and disposed of properly. By paying electronically/asking for a copy of payment rather than cash in hand this will discourage fly-tippers as it creates an easy to follow trail for investigators.
If you pay cash in hand you could end up being fined with a fixed penalty of £400 for failing your duty of care. If the issue is very serious it may raise to a court summoning which may result in criminal convictions and a very large fine.
