Buckinghamshire Council has introduced a forward-looking Parking Strategy to transform parking services across the county. This strategy aims to enhance customer experience through technological advancements, offering more choice and flexibility, and ensuring the financial sustainability of parking operations. It focuses on unifying parking standards and practices, improving safety, and minimizing congestion.
Additionally, it includes transitioning to digital payment options while retaining cash payments where feasible, and promises clear communication with residents about upcoming changes. The strategy also highlights the council's participation in the National Parking Platform pilot, signaling a move towards more adaptable and cost-effective parking solutions. This strategic plan reflects Buckinghamshire's commitment to addressing current inconsistencies and planning for future parking needs, ensuring a balanced approach that supports both community and corporate priorities.
Cllr Steven Broadbent, (Ridgeway East Ward),Cabinet Member for Transport said: “Since becoming a unitary authority in 2020 we have been working hard to reduce inconsistencies across the county. We have looked at how we can make improvements, listening to what people have said and analysing trends and data to come up with this vision. We are keen to embrace new technologies and innovation whilst also making the most of our parking assets and enforcement powers to support our corporate priorities. Our parking offer must be right for the future and our communities and must be financially sustainable. This vision sets out how we plan to do that.”
