The Ridgeway West team opposed the closure of the HRC in 2019 and have been spearheading the campaign for the re-opening of the site since its closure. Cllr Carl Etholen has spent years working alongside Parish Councils and community groups to see if it was possible to re-open the site as a Community Interest Company. Carl said, “It has been a long road and we have just over a week to wait now for the official decision from the Cabinet. Ever since the closure I have been doing all I can to get this site re-opened our residents, working closely with former County Councillor Bill Bendyshe-Brown, before he sadly passed away. There will be a full report going to the Cabinet where it will be subject to further scrutiny but I, Robert, and Shade are all hopeful that the site will be reopening in November of this year following the meeting next week.” If agreed the site will be open five days a week, closed on Wednesdays & Thursdays. The site will be free to visit to visit for all Buckinghamshire residents for household waste, charges will apply for non-household waste as is the case for all of the Council’s sites. Residents from Oxfordshire will still be able to use the site but will have to pay a fee depending on the type and amount of waste they bring, ensuring the cost isn’t borne by Buckinghamshire residents.
